Community Involvement

At Northwestern Mutual - Middleton we take community involvement very seriously! We believe that communities are made stronger when individuals and business leaders come together to work for the betterment of the community and all of its citizens.

Our management, agents, staff and our family members provide time, energy and financial resources to many different organizations throughout our service area.

Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation

Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF)   is a national nonprofit that funds some of the most promising pediatric cancer research in our country. They also offer support programs to help kids with cancer and their families. In addition to funds raised by network and district offices, the Northwestern Mutual Foundation provides a substantial grant to ALSF each year to support our partnership.

ALSF began in 2005 when Liz and Jay Scott established the foundation in honor of their daughter, Alexandra "Alex" Scott, who, though struggling with terminal cancer, hosted lemonade stands in her front yard to raise money to find a cure.

From this simple yet powerful idea, the Scotts have created an amazing organization that has raised $95 million for pediatric cancer research. ALSF has funded more than 450 research projects since 2005. It works directly with physicians, scientists and nurses to identify the specific challenges they face in bringing new treatments to children with cancer.

ALSF also raises awareness of the disease and helps offset travel costs for families of children receiving Your gift could lead to a crucial discovery or even a cure for childhood cancer.
